This book examines deaconesses in the post-apostolic period, proving that women deacons were a completely separate order from the ordained office of male deacons. It also follows the rise of women deacons during the Reformation and in the RPCNA during the late 19th century. Following the historical section, all the passages dealing with the diaconate in Scripture are carefully analyzed, proving that having women deacons in the same office as male deacons, as practiced by the RPCNA is unscriptural.
